In 1948, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which says that ‘all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.’ In 1989, the Convention on the Rights of the Child set out special rights for children, such as the right to education, health care and protection from harm.”
